What is the nature and object of the Personality or Interview test?

The candidate will be interviewed by a Board who will have before them a record of his/her career. The object of the interview is to assess the personal suitability of the candidate for a career in public service

What Quality are Judged in the Personality Test?

He/she will be asked questions on matters of general interest and will be judged on the basis of
1. Mental alertness
2. Critical powers of assimilation
3. Clear and logical exposition
4. Balance of judgment
5. Variety and depth of interest
6. Ability for social cohesion
7. Leadership, intellectual and moral integrity.

What are the probable areas in which questions are asked in interview?

1.Your birth-date, birth place, home town and state.
2.Your educational and professional background. Your hobbies and extracurricular activities.
3.Your optional subjects in the main examination and reasons for opting for those subjects.
4. Applicability of your subjects of specialization as well as optional subjects.
5. Major current national and international events or any other burning topics.
6. Social, cultural, political and economics problems relating to India, their reasons and solutions.
7.Problems of various states in the country with special emphasis on your home state.

What is the maximum mark in Interview?

The interview will carry 300 marks (with no minimum qualifying marks).

When and where will the Interview be conducted?

Usually, it is conducted every year in the month of April. It will be conducted only in New Delhi.

How many days the Interview will be conducted?

It is a one day event followed by a medical examination by the experts in the following working day.

When will the results be published?

The results will be published in the first week of May, well before the commencement of the next Preliminary Examination.

Will the interview marks be included in final marks?

Yes. It will be included with the marks obtained in the Main Examination and a final rank list will be published based on qualifying marks.
